Trust Your Yoga Mat

I woke up this morning with 1,000 questions running through my mind.

How is my health?

How am I going to finish my ginormous to-do list?

How am I going to maintain a positive trajectory?

The sea of endless questions continued accosting me until I finally stopped myself.

NO.

“No to all of these questions,” I proclaimed to myself defiantly.

We are going to get in our body today.

Today, yoga is the answer.

I roll out my yoga mat and stare down at it with my hands on my hips.

I take a deep belly breath and pray silently, “please help me”, looking down at the 2 ft. by 6 ft. mat in front of me.

PLEASE be my nirvana.

Then I start my yoga practice.

I start by warming up my core… opening my throat… then stretching my entire body in downward dog.

Slowly, something starts to change within me.

My breathing slows down. The thoughts quiet. And my heart stops racing.

I stop being a woman having a panic attack and I start being a woman in flow with life.

Inhale. Exhale.

Change pose.

Inhale exhale.

Change pose.

Inhale exhale.

Change pose.

As my practice starts winding down, I am completely amazed by my yoga mat’s ability to save me… yet again.

My body had all the answers my mind was desperately trying to answer.

As I move from downward dog to child’s pose, I realize that I’d been allowing my anxiety to be in the driver's seat. When my body’s wisdom needed to be running the show.

My body needed to decide my schedule for the day.

My body needed to prioritize what was important.

My body needed to be in control.

The realization flooded through me that my mind could never create the life I wanted, only my body’s wisdom was up to the task.

I got up from my yoga mat, and walked into my day with a deep confidence, knowing I would be guided by an intuitive force deeper than I could ever imagine.

Keep inspiring,

Nicole
