WHY SHINING YOUR UNIQUE LIGHT WILL CHANGE EVERYTHING
A Quick Note:
Hello community!
I wanted to start this newsletter by apologizing for my three-month hiatus from writing. I do not feel ready to share all the details (although I would love to in the future once I’ve integrated!), but I went through a period of mental health challenges in which I learned a lot and grew a lot.
I am deeply grateful for God’s guidance in bringing me out of this season and I am now on the up and up and ready to share all my inspiration with the realness and truth of life that inevitably comes along with it!
Now on to today’s regularly scheduled programming about shining your light… ;)
I felt fantastic about my progress this morning UNTIL I hopped on Instagram and compared myself to an influencer… Sound familiar? ;)
My inner dialogue goes a little something like this: Yes, I’m doing better and that’s amazing. BUT compared to all these other people I’m a boring loser, so what’s the point?
When I compare myself to other people, I don’t feel like what I have to say is interesting, and I don’t feel like there is any point in putting in the work.
If it’s already being done by someone more interesting, capable, healthy, and influential… why bother? Why does MY voice matter?
But this is where we need to stop and remember that we are all children of God.
Your voice matters because there is no one like you.
Your voice matters because you were fearfully and wonderfully made.
Your voice matters because God chose to bring you into this existence.
It really IS that simple. If you feel like who you are and what you have to say do not matter, then you need to take that up with God.
When you argue for your limitations, you are DIRECTLY arguing with God and Her plan for your life. You are letting darkness, trauma, and insecurity take the wheel and you are not living from a place of integrity.
We all want to hide in the shadows. It feels safer there. No one judges us, we are less accountable, and light can’t shine on the places calling for growth.
But when we deny the world our unique light and our unique voice there are consequences. There is a negative ripple effect every time you repress yourself from all the people who need YOU.
It may not feel like it if you’ve spent a lifetime putting yourself down, but there are people who need to hear things the way YOU say them. There are people that can only grow through YOUR medicine. And there is a magical pathway forward that will be lit up for someone when you share YOUR voice.
After spending years in the dark, the light can be scary. But TRUST that God will guide you on your path.
The light won’t blind you, in fact, the light is your birthright. ;)
Keep inspiring,
Nicole
