From Comfort to Courage: Trusting God’s Path Through the Unknown
Change is necessary.
It's not something that my ego wants to believe, but in order to get closer to God, we need to change. We can’t stay comfortable where we are, or we are reinforcing our separation from God. To be closer to God and closer to our authentic selves, we need to run toward Him.
Sometimes, I create a warped view of the world in which I can keep the peace without changing. I think if I keep the peace, I have somehow won something when in actuality, I am only keeping my ego safe.
The discomfort of change can be scary, but it is what we need to grow. I know for myself, that sometimes I want to stay curled up in a little ball or stay close to a certain mindset or way of thinking about the world that makes my ego feel safe.
But true growth is on the other side of the unknown.
We can open up to change by realizing that God only wants love for us. God cannot promise that we are comfortable all the time, but He can promise that we will be loved all the time and we will be guided toward greater and greater capacity to experience love.
We need to change to become more like God, and we are all going through the process of being constantly refined to become more like him.
It's only scary if we let ourselves be afraid of the open water. We need keep our eyes on the sun while we are out on the open water trust our process and trust that we are being guided to where we are meant to be. Which is always one step closer to God.
Keep inspiring,
Nicole
