“Stay calm in the storm,” she said in her thick Southern accent.
Crystal, the kindest sales agent I’ve ever met, was referring to the literal snowstorm happening this morning in Virginia.
But I couldn’t help but think metaphorically.
I couldn’t help but think that maybe God worked through Crystal this morning to say exactly what I needed to hear.
There are so many changes happening in my life lately and I feel like I’m in a blizzard of new ideas, momentum, and chaos.
I know that I need to be calm in this storm to make it to the other side. I know it's the only way I’ll make it out in one piece.
But for so many years, I’ve been the lightning in the storm.
I have ALWAYS been the electricity, the excitement, the amazing & destructive light.
And I loved being lightning… man, did I LOVE being lightning.
Until I burnt my entire life to a crisp, that is.
Now I want to be the calm in the storm. For myself. And for others.
I want to be peaceful, nurturing, and steadfast.
I want to be consistent.
I want to be a steady beacon of light, instead of a lightning bolt.
I have learned that there are moments of excitement and lightning, but most of life is maintaining that calm and inner peace, no matter what is happening outside us.
And maybe a sprinkle of lightning…
But just a sprinkle. ;)
If you’re out there caught up in your own crazy blizzard, try to stay calm.
Let the swirling wind, lightning, and thunder do their thing.
Let everything that is not meant for you be swept away.
Stay steady and hold onto everything dear to your heart.
You are so much stronger than you think. This too shall pass.
And when the storm finally dissipates, you will be left in quiet stillness and you will praise God for the beautiful chaos that made you who you are.
The only possible version of you that can take you where you are meant to go.
Keep inspiring,
Nicole
