Course Correction Chronicles: Navigating Dread in Meditation and Embracing Consistency

Recently, I started doing a Joe Dispenza meditation. I love starting the day with his authoritative voice telling me to live in the vision of my future instead of the memory of my past.

For some reason, when Joe Dispenza tells me my future goals are inevitable, it doesn’t feel like wishful thinking. It feels like TRUTH. It's like he is bullying me into thinking more positively!

But, while I love this meditation, it's always a slog to make it through the first half. The first 10 minutes are a lot of guttural sounds while paying attention to different parts of the body and it usually bums me out rather than energizing me. I find myself dreading my morning meditation because I have to sit through the first half of the session.

In the past, when something like this came up, I would completely jump ship.

I would let the feeling of dread take over and I would let it rule my life.

But these days, I’m doing things a bit differently. These days, I’m making consistency my holy grail.

So I asked myself, how can I stick with this practice without this daily feeling of dread?

The answer was quick and obvious: just skip the first half of the meditation.

I’ve come to realize that if we have compassion for ourselves and make small changes, we can stick with things we never thought possible… and then create a life we never thought possible! ;)

When we are perfectionists and have an “all in” or “all out” mentality, it can be hard to stick with things through the inevitable ups and downs of life.

But on the other hand, when we are compassionate and understanding with ourselves, we can easily course correct.

And the truth is, we cannot build anything without course-correcting. It's our only option if we want to live fulfilling lives with a growth mindset.

The boat is going full steam ahead and we cannot forget that.

Quitting something completely is like putting down an anchor or as if the captain just decided to grab a life vest and dive into the ocean.

We lose all of our momentum, or worse, the boat could hit an iceberg or another boat.

We have to stay steady and keep moving forward.

Every single day, we have to find ways to run, walk, or even crawl forward. Time stops for no man.

We are all so much closer than we think to the life we desire. A 1% change now can lead to a completely different life in the future.

Never stop believing in the sub-perceptual changes happening in your life and never stop believing in yourself! You’ve got this! :)

Keep inspiring,

Nicole
