Conquering ‘F*** It’ Syndrome
I am fighting a horrible disease.
A terrible case of the “F*** It”s.
All day long I am accosted by this illness.
Should I check social media? “F*** It” let’s do it
Should I eat my feelings? “F*** It” let’s do it
Should I sleep in another hour? “F*** It” let’s do it
Every time I surrender to the “F*** It” illness, I feel my body, mind, and spirit growing weaker and weaker.
The “F It” disease is ravaging my body and my life and I know I need to stop it. I need to stop the progression of this illness before it destroys everything I’ve worked so hard to build.
And I know exactly what the antidote is.
It’s in the still, small voice that whispers, “Stay”.
Every time I feel a pull to distract myself and escape, there is another voice asking me to stay put.
Stay with the discomfort.
Stay with the overwhelm.
Stay with the challenge.
STAYING with these intense moments is the cure for the disease of escapism.
As my favorite author, Glennon Doyle says, “First the pain, then the rising”.
We have to stay in the burning discomfort of right now to discover what gifts lie on the other side.
It's natural to want to escape. Life is hard and we want to run away to somewhere where things are easy.
But when we run away from the challenge, we also run away from the blessings.
It’s only after pushing that boulder up the hill, that it transforms into a golden throne for us to sit on.
It's only after chiseling away at the clay, that a beautiful statue appears.
It's only after fighting our battles, that the rippling muscles appear.
Don’t allow the disease of self-sabotage to ravage your life.
Have the courage to fight back and make decisions aligned with honor, self-respect, and longevity.
Have the courage to become the antidote to the virus attacking your body.
Have the courage to make decisions from the vision of your future instead of the pleasures of the present.
You are so much stronger than you could ever know right now. You just need to get your reps in every day to remind yourself of who you TRULY are.
Keep inspiring,
Nicole
